Evergy CEO Terry Bassham and Zulema Bassham to serve

December 9, 2019  (KANSAS CITY, MO.) – Terry Bassham, Chairman and CEO of Evergy, and wife, Zulema Carrasco Bassham, will serve as the 2020 Honorary Chairpersons for Comida KC.

The seventh annual Comida KC will be on Thursday, April 23 at Union Station. The event is revered as Kansas City’s only culinary arts event to showcase the cuisines of Latin America, Brazil and Spain. The evening includes local and visiting celebrity chefs, restaurateurs, and cutting-edge mixologists. The 2020 event theme is “The Art of Food”.

The Basshams are already at the forefront of philanthropic efforts in the Greater Kansas City area, serving on many boards, including contributing to initiatives with Arts KC, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Urban Neighborhood Initiative, the Mattie Rhodes Center, Boys & Girls Clubs, Genesis School and others.

“This is truly a one-of-a-kind event in Kansas City and we’re proud to be a part of supporting Latino culture and youth development,” said Terry Bassham.

Together, the Basshams bring a charitable and civic spirit to Kansas City from El Paso, Texas, where they were also involved in numerous community initiatives. They were, and continue to be, greatly involved with programs and initiatives that directly impact the Latino community.

“It’s a great honor to have such committed civic leaders serve as honorary chairs of Comida KC. We look forward to working together in 2020,” said Valerie Coyazo, 2020 Comida KC co-chair.

Comida is an annual event sponsored by the Greater Kansas City Hispanic Collaborative, and benefitting the Latinos of Tomorrow, Young Latino Professionals and KC BizFest that directly contribute to the professional and entrepreneurial development, growth and education of Latino youths and young adults in the Greater Kansas City area.
