HISPANIC COLLABORATIVE

HCCGKC’s non-profit arm, the Greater Kansas City Hispanic Collaborative, facilitates partnerships between Hispanics and other minorities and corporation leaders, educational institutions, associaCons, and organizations. The focus of GKCHC is educational and charitable endeavors.

Programs include:

  • BizFest, a youth entrepreneurial four-day workshop
  • Latinos of Tomorrow, a year-round educational advancement program
  • Young Latino Professionals, professional development for professionals entering the workforce
  • Folklore Business, a grant awards program designed to support small, underserved businesses in the Greater KC community

The HCCGKC engages, connects and develops the Hispanic small business community. It is the voice for small business in 10 counties of Greater Kansas City: Cass, Clay, Douglass, Jackson, Johnson, Leavenworth, Miami, Platte, Shawnee, and Wyandotte.

  • Hispanics are the fastest growing ethnic segment in the US. This group is expected to increase by 100%, or double in size, between 2010 and 2050. This compares to 42% for the entire US population.
  • If the US Hispanic community were a standalone country, its GDP of $3.7 trillion in 2022 would make it the fifth-largest economy globally, surpassing countries like the United Kingdom and India.
  • The national Hispanic market’s size, clout, and recent annua; buying power of $2.4 trillion – and growing – requires thoughtful understanding about what the market represents to a company’s bottom line.
  • With a median age of 30, the Hispanic population is younger than the national median, indicating a dynamic and influential consumer base.
  • According to the US Bureau of the 2020 Census, the 10 counties of Greater Kansas City have a total population of 2.6 million. The Hispanic population in Greater Kansas City is 300,000, or around 12% of the region’s population.
  • Hispanics represent 60 percent of the growth in the state of Kansas and 80 percent in the state of Missouri since the year 2000.

  • The HCCGKC reports there are over 5000 small businesses with Hispanic owners in the region, a number that continues to grow each year.
