GABRIEL MEJIA

As the Marriott Kansas City Downtown’s Chef for all food and beverage outlets, Chef Gabriel Mejia leads the charge in creating a variety of culinary creations. He is committed to authentic regional classics with a modern twist and was inspired by his Hispanic heritage. His father, a race car enthusiast, taught him that cooking and dining was a sport to be enjoyed. After competing they would celebrate by dining out. The discipline he learned from his father charted his path to study Hospitality. He attended Centro de Estudios Lomas where he earned his degree in Hotel Management and Hospitality Administration. Mejia has spent the last 20 years fine tuning his culinary skills. Prior to joining the Marriott team, Mejia was the Executive Chef at the Isle of Capri restaurants Farmers Pick Buffet, Lone Wolf Restaurant, Trade Winds Fast food and the Platinum Lounge VIP high rollers dining room. Mejia was also the Executive Sous Chef at the Capital Grille in Kansas City. Comida educates the community about the diversity and variety of Latin cultures through unique cuisines, specialty cocktails, visual and performing arts. The Kansas City Marriott Downtown is proud to participate in this Kansas City tradition.
